Why LivingSafe Is Different
To give you an understanding as to why LivingSafe is different from other sites and why it has become such a respected and trusted source of information and product advice, here is the checklist that all companies must meet with before I will promote, review, list, sell or advertise their brand and products either here on LivingSafe, or in my online store. ‘The Natural Beauty Shop’.
All Products are Certified Cruelty-Free
Why LivingSafe is different because ALL cosmetics, personal care and cleaning products must be certified as cruelty-free by either Choose Cruelty Free in Australia.
All Products Are Dangerous Chemical Free
All products must be free of all known harmful chemicals and toxins and processes including the following – BPA, PVC, Formaldehyde, Talc, Sulphates, Petrochemicals, Parabens, Propylene Glycol, Chlorine Bleach, PPD, Triclosan, Pthalates, Dioxins, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) etc.
All Products Are Nano-Particle Free
All products must be nano-particle free and loose mineral cosmetic powders must have a larger particle size than 2.5 microns per particle.
All Products Are Free Of Cruelty Obtained Animal By-Products
All products must be free of animal by-products such as leather, skin, fur, animal gelatin and meat with the exception of humanely sourced honey, silk and organic/biodynamic, dairy products. At this stage products containing Carmine and Shellac are allowed, but again these ingredients must be disclosed so I can give my vegan readers honest information. I have allowed Carmine and Shellac due to the issue of synthetic alternatives to these, being highly toxic to people, animals and the environment; e.g. Shellac is used in EverEscents Organic Hair Spray instead of the conventional toxic plasticizer PVP used in hairspray.
Palm Oil Must Be Humanely Sourced Only
Palm oil is only allowed if it is ethically and humanely sourced; e.g. Ere Perez uses sustainable, ethical, palm oil sourced from Mexico.
Ethical Food
All food products must be vegetarian/vegan, organic/ bio-dynamic and free of additives, synthetic preservatives, colours and flavours.
Safe Food Storage/Kitchen Appliances
All food storage must be BPA and PVC free and using food safe materials. All kitchen appliances must have no BPA or PVC components that come in touch with the food in any way.
Safer Toys/ Clothing/Bedding/ Nappies/Wipes
All products must environmentally friendly and be free of all known harmful chemicals, toxins and processes including the following; Fire Retardant treatments and chemicals, BPA, PVC, Formaldehyde, Petrochemicals, Parabens, Propylene Glycol, Chlorine Bleach, Pthalates, Dioxins, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s), AZO fabric colourant.
No Ingredients From The Pacific Ocean or Japan
NOT ALLOWED any products or ingredients from Japan.
Not allowed are products containing marine products of any sort from the Pacific Ocean due to radiation leaking from the Fukushima Radiation Plant in Japan. These include Carrageenan (often used in jelly, candy, mascaras and skin care products and commonly used as vegan alternative to gelatine in many other processed foods), Algae, Seaweeds, Sea Minerals, Marine Collagen, Agar Agar, Kelp, Sea Salt, Spirullina etc..? Area’s of concern of high radiation is anywhere in the Pacific Ocean between Japan and the West Coast of the USA. Coastal shore areas along the west coasts of the USA Hawaii, Mexico and the west coast of Northern Canada.
Safety Checks of Raw Ingredients
Erring on the side of caution, I do my absolute best to avoid where possible products with ingredients or parts coming from the following countries and areas due to concern of high levels of radiation still affecting them from;
Chernobyl (Ukraine)– NOT ALLOWED from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia. Also certain areas of Turkey, Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, were also affected and raw foods and materials are the main issue here.
The Issue With Bulgarian Grown Rose Oil
*Please note – Bulgaria is the major world provider for Pure Rose Essential Oil and it has been impossible for me to exclude allowance of this oil. To rule rose oil out, would rule out 99% of all natural skincare companies. This is unfair as these companies are truly doing their best to produce safer, natural and ethical, cruelty-free products. I have contacted various companies and they were all of the belief that as the Bulgarian Rose Oil is certified organic it must be safe, as just like myself, until I researched into it, they were unaware that radiation testing of ingredients is not a requirement for organic certification. Therefore I can’t guarantee that this Bulgarian Rose oil is completely free of radiation and I must leave it up to the individual to make the choice whether to use products containing this pure rose essential oil. All products sold via my store www.thenaturalbeautyshop.com.au have listed clearly Bulgarian Rose Oil in order to help you make your choice.
Where Certified Organic Cotton Is Grown
*Please note Certified Organic Cotton is grown in many countries including Turkey and there is often no way the manufacture can know the country of origin of organic cotton, due to how the cotton is gathered and processed into fabric sheeting. But I believe that even if from Turkey, the chance of radiation contamination compared to the very ‘real threat’ of sleeping on a non-organic mattress made out of carcinogenic, toxic synthetic foams and other harmful materials, which are all then treated with carcinogenic, toxic fire retardants is a much more dangerous option and I will choose the organic option any day.
