Toxic AZO Dye Found In Popular Clothing Brands.
In May 2103 the Toxic AZO Dye Found In Popular Clothing Brands. This included many brands of denim jeans for both children and adults has been big news.
This type of AZO Dye breaks down releasing carcinogenic chemicals. It is prolonged contact; e.g. wearing jeans, that poses the health risk.
With more than 270,000 items of AZO contaminated items of clothing and even bedding, already recalled in Australia from Myer, Just Jeans, Target, and Rivers .
It seems that once again Australia is very behind the eight ball when it comes to consumer safety. Europe has had a ban on certain toxic AZO Dyes since 2003.
Here are the list of AZO Dye recall alerts so far as put out by the Australian Government.
It would stand to reason that these aren’t the only brands contaminated. We urge caution, especially when buying denim from smaller independent stores.
